Position Summary
Kartchner Engineering is seeking a licensed Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) to join our growing multidisciplinary MEP consulting firm. This position will provide technical
leadership, project management, design oversight, and client coordination for a variety of commercial, institutional, municipal, healthcare, industrial, and educational projects.
As a key member of our 20-person firm, the Electrical Project Engineer will play an active role in project execution, client development, mentoring staff, and maintaining the high level of service our clients expect. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities Engineering & Design
Lead the electrical design of building systems from concept through construction.
Prepare and oversee design documents including:
o Power distribution systems
o Lighting and lighting controls
o Emergency and standby power systems
o Fire alarm systems
o Low-voltage and communications infrastructure
o Site electrical systems
Perform electrical load calculations, short circuit studies, voltage drop calculations, and equipment sizing.
Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, energy codes, NEC requirements, and client standards.
Review drawings, specifications, and calculations for quality and accuracy. Project Management
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedules and budgets.
Develop project work plans and coordinate internal resources.
Monitor project financial performance and labor utilization.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, owners, and contractors.
Attend project meetings, site visits, and construction coordination meetings.
Respond to RFIs, submittals, and construction-related questions. Leadership & Team Development
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to designers, drafters, and junior engineers.
Conduct design reviews and quality control checks.
Support staff development and training initiatives.
Foster a collaborative and positive team environment. Business Development
Maintain and strengthen client relationships.
Participate in proposal development, fee estimates, and project interviews.
Identify opportunities for repeat business and new client development.
Represent the firm in professional organizations and industry events.
