We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Infection Control and Quality Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care by overseeing infection prevention protocols, maintaining compliance with AAAHC regulatory guidelines, and supporting quality improvement initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on patient safety and outcomes within a fast-paced surgical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Infection Control: Develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention and control programs in compliance with state, federal, and industry guidelines (CDC, OSHA, etc.). Conduct regular surveillance of infection data and report findings to management and clinical staff. Provide ongoing education and training to staff on infection prevention best practices, including hand hygiene, sterilization procedures, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Respond to infection outbreaks, perform investigations, and develop action plans to prevent future occurrences. Ensure compliance with infection control audits and inspections. Quality Improvement: Collaborate with leadership to support and enhance the center's quality improvement programs, focusing on patient safety and operational efficiency. Analyze clinical data to identify areas for improvement and assist in the development of strategies to enhance care delivery and patient outcomes. Monitor and report quality metrics, including patient satisfaction, surgical outcomes, and patient safety incidents. Assist in the preparation of reports for accreditation bodies, regulatory agencies, and internal audits. Participate in the creation and review of clinical protocols and standards of care to ensure best practices are followed. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with surgical teams, physicians, and administrative staff to ensure infection control measures and quality standards are maintained across all levels of care. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to address quality issues, review incidents, and discuss patient safety strategies. Act as a resource and mentor for staff on infection control and quality improvement practices.
Requirements
Registered Nurse (RN) with active state licensure
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a surgical center, hospital, or outpatient surgical setting.
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred or willingness to obtain within 1 year.
Strong understanding of infection prevention protocols, quality assurance processes, and regulatory requirements.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to educate and influence staff at all levels.
Proficiency in data analysis and familiarity with quality improvement methodologies.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and lift as needed.
Ability to wear PPE for extended periods as required in an infection control setting.
