Brief Job Overview/Summary
Stockton University is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor of Psychology, Clinical/Counseling, Tenure-Track, to begin September 1, 2026. Candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Theories of Counseling and Psychopathology in addition to other program required courses such as Experimental Psychology, Statistical Methods, and/or Psychology of Race and Racism. Applicants will also contribute to Stockton’s General Studies curriculum and/or graduate Counseling program. Depending on expertise, candidates may contribute courses to the Psychology Program’s concentrations (Empirical Research, Forensic Psychology, and Mental Health) or the University’s interdisciplinary minors (Behavioral Neuroscience, Childhood Studies, Gerontology, Integrative Health, Disability Studies). BIPOC applicants are encouraged to apply. The teaching load is three courses (12 credit hours) per semester.
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Offer courses in the department and the General Studies curriculum and/or Counseling program
Serve as a preceptor (advisor) to students
Participate in scholarship and/or creative activities as appropriate to the discipline
Provide service to the university, community, and profession
Perform other duties as designated by the Dean or the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in psychology or a closely related field is required for appointment as an Assistant Professor. *ABD candidates will be considered
Teaching experience required
*NOTE:ABD candidates will be hired at the Instructor level until the doctoral degree is completed. Doctoral degree must be conferred within one (1) academic year of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
Academic experiences with culturally diverse populations
Documentation of teaching excellence
Licensed as a psychologist in New Jersey or license-eligible within three years of start date
