Transmission Design Engineer
This full-time position reports to the Manager of Construction Design and is located at the Ed Fischer Operations Center, 8600 NE 117th Avenue, Vancouver, WA 98662. Working hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
WHAT YOU WOULD DO:
- Design and coordination of complex electric transmission and distribution projects up to 115kV.
- Prepare comprehensive work order packages including drawings, specifications, standards and other written communications required to support the construction, operation and maintenance of CPU’s electric system.
- Project management including scope, budget and schedule for all phases of work (design, procurement, right of way, surveying, construction planning, etc.).
- Develop design requirements for the construction of transmission and distribution facilities and ensure compliance with CPU policies, safety rules and regulations such as NESC and NEC.
- Work with Construction Superintendents, customers and customer representatives to ensure customer service requests and design reviews are completed in a timely manner.
- Apply expert knowledge of commonly used transmission design practices, codes and procedures. Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to other engineers in the department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent training and experience with minimum of 5 years in the design of electric transmission and large-scale distribution projects. PE license preferred. In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles and design practices. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with PLS-CADD preferred. Working knowledge of NESC and NEC codes and electrical industry standards. Understanding property rights, easements and installation of facilities in public right-of-way. Outstanding interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership skills with a strong commitment to delivery of excellent customer service. Significant interaction with customers is required.

SALARY:
Salary ranges are market based and established annually. Typically, selected candidates are hired at a salary rate between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on qualifications and experience.
Transmission Design Engineer Minimum: $92,056 Midpoint: $114,592 Maximum: $137,126
Senior Transmission Design Engineer Minimum: $105,196 Midpoint: $133,529 Maximum: $161,864
