Description
Description & RequirementsBloomberg runs on data. Our products are fueled by powerful information. We combine data and context to paint the whole picture for our clients, around the clock - from around the world. In Data, we are responsible for delivering this data, news and analytics through innovative technology - quickly and accurately. We apply problem-solving skills to identify innovative workflow efficiencies, and we implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes.
Our Team:
Our Frankfurt-based Bloomberg New Issues Credit team manages the timely and accurate coverage of corporate bonds issued in the German, Austrian, and Swiss (DACH) region as they are brought to market. We develop automated pipelines for ingestion and publication of new issue data, enhance our primary-market datasets, and identify opportunities to expand our data product offering through client engagement. Our coverage plays a critical role in enabling leading financial institutions, such as syndicate desks, asset managers, and fixed income traders, to monitor primary market activity in real time.
We collaborate closely with News, Product, Sales, and Engineering to deliver a fit-for-purpose corporate bond data product. Our team includes domain experts and technical specialists who combine financial knowledge and data management acumen to innovate at the heart of Bloomberg's fixed income offering.
The Role:
As a senior data management professional, you understand our customers' needs and develop strategies to maximise the value of our data product, all while improving the efficiency of our data operations. You'll act as a technical leader, navigating ambiguity, driving decision-making using data, and influencing cross-functional colleagues and stakeholders. You'll also mentor colleagues, lead high-impact initiatives, and ensure that our data continues to meet the highest standards of quality, relevance, and usability.
We'll trust you to:
- Understand customer needs and markets to ensure data is fit for purpose, ready for use, and meets service level agreements (SLAs)
- Research and evaluate new datasets and external data sources to expand coverage of our products
- Optimize internal workflows, leveraging automation, AI, and human-in-the-loop design to scale automated data onboarding
- Develop and implement data quality strategies, leveraging statistical methods, data validation logic, and automated QA workflows to ensure accuracy and fitness for purpose
- Design and maintain scalable data pipelines, including ETL workflows for both structured and unstructured content
- Apply data visualisation skills to report on the results of ongoing operations and projects
- Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders across Engineering and Product, demonstrating flexibility, resourcefulness, and responsiveness
- Use your experience to mentor colleagues in your areas of expertise
You need to have:
- A bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field or equivalent professional experience
- 4+ Years of experience* in financial services improving data quality, efficiency, and customer outcomes using analytical and programming skills (e.g. Python)
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver autonomously across multiple stakeholders
- Strong understanding of financial products, service and markets
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated career growth and ability to succeed in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
*Please note: years of experience are a guide; we will consider applications from all candidates who can demonstrate the skills necessary for the role.
We'd love to see:
- Familiarity with the Bloomberg Terminal or relevant financial certifications (e.g., BMC, CFA, CPA)
- Experience with data modeling, ontology design, and quality assurance for scalable, interoperable datasets
- Knowledge of AI/ML techniques, including pattern recognition and natural language processing
- Experience with Agile workflows and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik Sense, Splunk)
