Description
School Psychology Internship
The internship in school psychology will provide the intern with the opportunity to integrate science with practice within the context of a school setting. The intern will be provided with a comprehensive learning experience in which to provide direct and indirect psychological services in response to various problems experienced across a range of ages and grade levels.
Compensation starts at $20/hr plus benefits!
Qualified applicants selected will receive an educational stipend.
Responsibilities
- Each intern will be assigned an elementary school site for 3 days per week and a rotation site for the other two days. Rotations sites change by quarter and include: middle school, high school/post-secondary transition, early childhood and a special program (i.e. gifted, specialty school, etc.). The early childhood rotation takes place at the early childhood screening and assessment clinic, on-site at the district office.
- Most of the intern’s time is spent providing direct and indirect psychological services to children, youth, and/or families.
- In order to ensure breadth of training, activities in no single major function predominates the intern’s time and will include
- Practice within a Multi-Tier System of Support Model
- Provide comprehensive psycho-educational evaluations of referred students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12.
- Participate in the problem-solving process, providing consultation and assisting in the development of interventions, data collection and progress monitoring.
- Participate in weekly mental health team meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Current enrollment in a graduate program leading toward certification in School Psychology
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills, analytical organizational, and prioritization.
