Mission of the Role
The HR Manager’s mission is to ensure that Jan Dils, Attorneys at Law has the right people, in the right roles, at the right time, supported by compliant, consistent, and values-aligned HR systems—while delivering an exceptional employee experience.
Key Outcomes
Within the first 12–24 months, the successful HR Manager will:
Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant employee records across all HR systems
Ensure seamless onboarding with effective orientations and 30/60/90-day check-ins that support new hire success
Lead a consistent, fair, and well-documented performance management and corrective action process
Ensure full legal compliance across federal and multi-state employment laws (EEOC, HIPAA, FMLA, DOL, etc.)
Oversee benefits administration, compensation structures, PTO, and insurance processes with accuracy and clarity
Deliver timely, accurate employee reviews and compensation review coordination with Accounting
Build a high-trust culture through coaching, mediation, engagement programs, and leadership support
Provide leadership with clear HR data, workforce analytics, and strategic guidance
Strengthen recruiting and selection processes to consistently attract and hire top talent
Successfully lead and develop the HR Recruiting Specialist
Champion and sustain firm-wide culture initiatives and engagement programs
Core Responsibilities
The HR Manager will have full accountability for:
HR operations, personnel files, documentation, and compliance
Onboarding, employee relations, mediation, and counseling
Policy creation, communication, and enforcement
Performance reviews, corrective action, and leadership coaching
Recruiting, interviewing, selection, and workforce reporting
Benefits administration and compensation coordination
Training needs identification and collaboration with leadership
Culture-building initiatives, appreciation events, community events, and engagement programs
Advising leadership on HR best practices and the employee experience

Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related business field
5+ years of experience as an HR Manager or in a similar leadership role
Strong working knowledge of HR compliance, policies, and best practices
Proven experience managing benefits, performance reviews, and employee relations
Ability to track and manage data using HR systems and applicant tracking tools
