Responsibilities

We are looking for candidates local to the Columbus area interested in working in an office environment. The position of Accounting Manager is a newly created role which will be responsible for various accounting, reporting/analysis, and SOX compliance over the inventory, freight and distribution yard areas of the business. This individual will work closely with the Ohio based cost accounting and operational accounting teams, along with working with cross functional leadership teams. This role will report directly to the Columbus Ohio based Director of Accounting Operations.   Primary ResponsibilitiesThe positionincludes the following tasks:

Oversight and completion of monthly inventory capitalization modelsPerform/review various monthly account reconciliations, investigate unreconciled balances or variances between general ledger and various source documentsPrepare/review monthly journal entries associated with inventory models and various other operational transactions associated with inventory functions.Prepare/review monthly journal entries associated with the freight and distribution yard functions.Assist in preparation of various internal and external reportsCollaborate across assorted business functions (finance, accounting, sales, operations, HR, etc.) providing insights with adhoc analyses over the company's inventory functions and associated transactions.Support ongoing efforts focused on streamlining, improving, and automating processesDrive through challenges in order to effectively deliver on commitmentsEnsure SOX compliance by adhering to internal control requirements, maintaining updated documentation and providing recommendations as appropriate 

Requirements
Qualified applicants should possess the following background and characteristics:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA or CMA preferredMinimum of 5+ years practical work experienceOracle experience preferred, but not requiredStrong technical skills including knowledge of GAAPAttention to detail and accuracy is a mustAbility to understand issues, demonstrate resourcefulness and pro-actively resolve problems and manage multiple projects in a timely mannerStrong analytical & problem-solving skills to research and resolve inquiries and respond in a timely mannerAble to handle confidential information in a mature mannerSolid organizational skills: task prioritization and effective time managementMid- to advanced PC skills using Outlook,Word, Excel (ability to perform pivots, V-lookups and other functions with Excel)
