Essential Responsibilities
Bremerton, WA | Kitsap Golf & Country Club, a private, member-owned club established in 1924 and located among the evergreens of Bremerton, Washington, is home to more than 300 active golfing members. The Club features a championship 18-hole golf course, year-round dining, and a robust calendar of social events, fostering a warm and welcoming membership community. The Club is seeking an experienced and hospitality-minded General Manager to oversee all day-to-day operations and guide Kitsap Golf & Country Club into its second century of excellence. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, sound business acumen, and a member-focused approach-balancing tradition with innovation to ensure the continued success and exceptional experience of the Club's members and guests.

- Reports to: President and Board of Directors
- Supervises: Golf Professional, Greenskeeper, Kitchen Manager and administrative staff.
Position Overview | The General Manager (GM) serves as the strategic and operational leader of Kitsap Golf & Country Club, overseeing all club activities, departments, and relationships among members, guests, employees, the community, and the Board of Directors. This role ensures the Club's mission and vision are reflected in its daily operations, member experience, and long-term growth.
The GM is responsible for implementing Board policies, managing budgets, leading the
management team, and maintaining the highest standards of service, hospitality, and operational excellence. This position requires a balance of strategic leadership, financial acumen, and hands-on management to ensure the continued success and sustainability of the Club.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Governance
- Implement and administer policies and strategic direction as established by the Board of Directors.
- Serves as the primary liaison between the Board and the Club's staff, ensuring clear communication, collaboration, and accountability.
- Provides professional advice and recommendations to the Board and Committees
regarding operations, capital improvements, and member services. - Keeps the Board informed of trends, financial performance, and issues that could impact the Club's short- and long-term success.
- Attend Board and Committee meetings as required.
Financial Management
- In partnership with the Controller, develops, monitors, and manages operating and capital budgets to achieve financial goals.
- Oversees cash flow, purchasing controls, and fiscal accountability across departments.
- Reviews monthly financial reports and implements corrective actions as needed.
- Ensures effective cost control and prudent use of Club resources while maintaining
quality and member satisfaction.
Operations & Facilities Management
- Directs all club operations, including food & beverage, golf, grounds, membership, and administration.
- Ensures smooth day-to-day operations and consistent delivery of high-quality
experiences across all departments. - Oversee maintenance and improvement of Club facilities, golf course, and amenities to ensure they meet member expectations and safety standards.
- Maintains compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Oversees vendor and contractor relationships, ensuring value and accountability.
Membership & Community Relations
Promotes a welcoming, inclusive, and service-oriented culture that enhances member satisfaction and retention. - Develop strong relationships with members through visibility, communication, and
follow-through. - Works with the Membership & Marketing Associate to implement marketing, communications, and member engagement initiatives that support membership growth and retention.
- Represents Kitsap Golf & Country Club within the local community and in professional organizations to promote the Club's reputation and involvement.
Human Resources & Staff Development
- Provides clear leadership, direction, and mentorship to all department heads.
- Fosters a culture of teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and excellence.
Oversee recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and professional development of staff. - Ensures compliance with employment laws and Club personnel policies.
- Encourages open communication, employee recognition, and continuous improvement.
Strategic Planning & Innovation
- Leads the creation and execution of the Club's annual and long-range strategic plans.
- Identifies opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and improved member services.
- Conducts competitive analyses of comparable clubs and hospitality organizations to maintain a best-in-class experience.
- Partners with the Board on major projects, renovations, and initiatives that align with the Club's mission and fiscal health.
Member Experience & Club Culture
- Ensures excellence in all food, beverage, recreational, and social offerings.
- Oversee the coordination and execution of Club events, tournaments, and programs that
foster engagement and community. - Proactively resolves member concerns with professionalism and diplomacy.
- Promotes the Club's traditions while adapting to evolving member interests and
expectations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in private club management, hospitality, or related industries.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial
analysis. - Proven ability to lead diverse teams and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and service excellence.
- Demonstrated success in membership development, strategic planning, and capital project management.
- Experience working in golf industry, volunteer boards, and committees preferred.
- CMAA membership and/or PGA affiliation preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
Kitsap Golf & Country Club offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, including salary ($85,000 - $120,000 DOE), performance incentives, and benefits.
