Description
The Director of Talent Acquisition will design and execute a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy that aligns with the library’s mission and growth objectives. This senior-level HR professional will lead the entire recruitment lifecycle, from proactive sourcing and employer branding to ensuring a positive candidate and onboarding experience. They will collaborate with department leaders to build a strong talent pipeline of diverse, mission-aligned candidates, ensuring the organization attracts and retains top talent.
This is a full-time, non-union, exempt position. The salary range for this position is $129,000 - $131,000.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic leadership
Develop and implement a talent acquisition strategy that supports the organization’s strategic plan and forecasted hiring needs.
Serve as a strategic partner to hiring managers to understand their talent needs and develop effective recruitment plans.
Use data and metrics, such as time-to-hire and cost-per-hire, to analyze the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and inform future decisions.
Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and employment laws, ensuring compliance and competitive recruiting strategies.
2. Candidate sourcing
Enhance the organization’s ability to attract top talent to the Library
Develop and execute creative and inclusive sourcing techniques to attract a diverse pool of candidates, including passive and non-traditional methods.
Manage external partnerships with job boards, professional networks, and relevant community organizations to bolster recruitment efforts.
Build and maintain a robust talent pipeline for current and future hiring needs, with a focus on roles that are traditionally hard to fill.
3. Team and process management
Lead, mentor, and coach a small talent acquisition team, providing ongoing development and support.
Oversee all stages of the recruitment process, ensuring efficiency and a positive experience.
Manage the applicant tracking function in Workday, optimizing its use for candidate tracking and data reporting.
Develop and deliver training to hiring managers on effective and equitable interviewing and hiring practices.
4. Inclusive Outreach
Champion initiatives within the talent acquisition function and develop strategies to attract candidates that reflect the communities that the library serves.
Ensure all recruitment processes are fair, unbiased, and compliant with equal opportunity employment practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business management, or a related field; relevant certifications are beneficial
- Experience in Workday environment is a plus
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, with a proven track record of success in a leadership role
- Experience in a unionized, non-profit, or public sector is strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HR databases
- In-depth knowledge of sourcing techniques and full-cycle recruitment
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
- Excellent leadership abilities with a collaborative and mission-driven approach
- Strong supervisory skills and a commitment to developing and mentoring team members
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment
