Description
The Artistic Director Shall:
General
Develop and implement the artistic vision for the Bainbridge Chorale in conjunction with the Board
Select or approve the selection of a variety of choral pieces to be prepared each session
Plan and implement rehearsals to ensure preparedness for performances
Collaborate with the Board and Executive Director to foster a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment for our diverse membership
Audition new members for the chorale to ensure a vibrant and diverse chorale community
Work with the Board of Directors to implement collaborations with Bainbridge Youth Choir and other regional performance groups
Support the organization by participating in fundraising and donor stewardship
Requirements
Qualifications
A strong background and training in choral conducting, vocal technique, theory, and performance
The ability to guide singers in developing their individual voices while building excellence in the ensemble sound
Knowledge of diverse repertoire and the ability to select and program repertoire appropriate for the choir and pleasing to our audiences
The ability to plan rehearsals to ensure preparedness for performances
Desired Traits and Characteristics
The Artistic Director should possess effective people skills and the ability to nurture new and existing relationships with chorale singers, audience members, donors, and the community.
He or she should be a natural coach, mentor, facilitator, consensus builder, and motivational leader who will hold high expectations for excellence while being personable and maintaining positivity and a sense of humor.
The Artistic Director should be accessible, open, competent and a communicative professional who enjoys exploring ideas, including building community partnerships and engagement.
He or she should demonstrate leadership and diplomacy, the capacity to inspire others to unify around an outcome or goal and navigate sensitive and difficult issues as needed with grace and respect.
