Seattle University Executive Master of Nonprofit Leadership program

Educating Leaders for a Just and Humane World

Seattle University's Executive Master of Nonprofit Leadership (MNPL) program is a 45-credit, 16-month program designed for working professionals. A class of up to 25 individuals are admitted each year and this cohort proceeds through the program together in order to provide more opportunities to learn from each other.

This innovative program started in 1995, and is modeled after the concept pioneered in schools of business.

The MNPL program offers:

  •  courses in the evenings and on Saturdays;
  •  curriculum that emphasizes peer education while promoting the cross-fertilization of “best practices” among different fields of service and advocacy in the nonprofit sector;
  •  a fast educational track to fill gaps in the leadership and management skills of those currently in or anticipating significant leadership assignments; and
  •  an active alumni network and a virtual MNPL community of alumni, faculty, and current students to add to the peer-learning and sharing of best practices.

The MNPL program is a unique partnership between Seattle University and a coalition of community leaders, nonprofit associations, grantmakers, and other nonprofit representatives. Members of this coalition participate in the MNPL Visiting Committee. This committee assists in recommending applicants admitted to the program each year, comments on curriculum evaluation and revisions, mentors program participants, and serves as guest instructors.
